Nanoplasmas is a high-tech, spin-off company of the largest research center in Greece, NCSR “Demokritos”. The company owns a pioneering “plasma nanotechnology” for the modification of surfaces commonly used in diagnostic devices, which leads to added-value products. Thus, Nanoplasmas brings in the market a new generation of disposable lab on a chip diagnostic kits with embedded, localized, 3D topography and multiple functionalities. Nanoplasmas diagnostic kits exhibit far superior performance with at least 3-5 times increase of adsorption of biological agents and 50-100 fold increased sensitivity, enabling simple, sensitive, automated and cost-effective analysis. The detection method is based on a simple color change under the presence of specific pathogens (eg in environmental samples). Our products are user-friendly, requiring minimal laboratory training.
Nanoplasmas holds 4 patents on plasma nanotechnology and microfluidics-based diagnostics. Several lab-on-a-chip diagnostic kits for bacteria and viruses are in our pipeline. Currently, the company commercializes diagnostic kits accompanied by a dedicated device for the quantitative detection of pathogens. The company has already in the market two kits for molecular detection of Legionella in water samples and SARS-CoV-2. Also, we have developed a Quality Management System certified by the Greek National Evaluation Center of Quality & Technology in Health.
