Blue Barriers - River Plastic Clean Up

The SEADS Blue Barriers are the most effective riverine plastic clean up service. They enable Public Administrations around the world to protect tourism and fisheries, create local jobs, and attract investments in waste treatment facilities. They reduce risks associated with flooding too.
Full description
The SEADS Blue Barriers collect 100% of riverine plastic without impacting river life or navigation, by diverting it towards a collection basin on the riverbank. They collect microplastic too, thanks to organic materials acting as a sponge.
SEADS also helps administrations extract value from the collected materials to cover the costs of waste management, therefore offering a self-funding blueprint to transform Ocean Plastic into Wealth for local communities around the world. Benefits are holistic: improved recycling rates, vital industries like tourism are protected, less waste ends up in the ocean and jobs are created.

The SEADS Blue Barriers were tested by the University of Florence, in the Tiber and Lamone rivers, and are covered by a proprietary patent. Installations are active on the Aniene and Sarno rivers. SEADS is one of The Economist's top 10 #OceanChangeMakers.
