Full description
Nanoplasmas Legionella detection kit is a lab-on-a-chip inspired kit, which can capture bacteria, perform lysis of the bacteria on chip, perform amplification of the DNA and allow the detection of bacteria using a colorimetric method. The method is based on an isothermal nucleic acid amplification method (Loop-mediated isothermal amplification, LAMP), which offers high specificity, simplicity and robustness against amplification inhibitors, thus outperforming the traditional methods, leading to competitive diagnostic products in terms of accuracy, simplicity and cost. The results can be obtained in less than 2 hours instead of 10 days using standard microbiological methods. In this way, we can provide accurate results and fast turn-around time for testing in laboratory environment as well as at the point of interest/need.
The advantages of Legionella detection kit are:
- naked eye accurate detection (observation of color change)
- molecular based technique, not lateral flow test
- no extraction required (RT-qPCR requires purification steps)
- no special equipment required
- analysis software available upon request
- ultra-fast and accurate analysis
- patented.
Value proposition
The unique benefits of Nanoplasmas innovative product are the following:
- patented technology
- quantitative Molecular diagnostic tests for viruses and bacteria (accurate, fast & user-friendly)
- cost effective solution (similar price with antibody/antigen or laminar flow tests with the sensitivity of DNA/RNA detection using RT-qPCR)
- no expensive equipment (such as thermocyclers) required
- no nucleic acid extraction required (RT-qPCR requires purification steps), as LAMP approaches exhibit tolerance to inhibitory substances present in the sample
- results available within 2 hours.
Solution implementation

The kit has been sold to analytical laboratories in Greece for water analysis.
